Backup not running
Checklist: - Computer is powered on - Internet connection is active - SalvageData Backup app is running - You are signed in
Try: - Clicking Run backup now - Restarting the backup app - Rebooting the computer
Login issues
Incorrect password
- Verify you are using the correct email/username
- Passwords are case-sensitive
If login fails repeatedly: - Contact SalvageData support
Permission errors (macOS)
If backups fail with permission errors: 1. Open System Settings 2. Go to Privacy & Security 3. Confirm SalvageData Backup has: - File access - Disk access (if prompted)
Restart the app after granting permissions.
Backup appears stuck
Possible causes: - Large files being processed - Very large first backup - Slow internet connection
What to do: - Leave the backup running - Avoid shutting down the computer - Check progress after some time
Restore issues
Restore fails
- Confirm sufficient free disk space
- Restore to a new folder
- Retry the restore
Restored files are encrypted
- Stop restoring immediately
- Contact SalvageData support
- Do not overwrite original data
Antivirus or security software warnings
Backup software may be flagged by: - Antivirus - Endpoint security tools
Recommended action: - Allow the application - Add an exception if required
